BEACON, N.Y. – John H. Whitson, a resident of Beacon, died Tuesday, July 12. He was 67.
Born May 26, 1949, in Beacon, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ruth Baker Whitson.
He was a nuclear security officer with Indian Point Power Plant in Buchanan. He graduated from Beacon High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his brother, Andrew Whitson of Florida and formerly of Beacon; sister, Nancy Handley and her husband Albert of Hartford; close friends, Dominic Virtuoso and his wife Maribel of Beacon; Goddaughter, Clarissa Virtuoso; sister-in-law, Georgia Whitson; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at noon Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, 375 Washington Ave., Beacon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation, 54 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508
